In 1798， he joined the secret revolutionary group“lautaro”. In 1801， he returned to Chile， actively involved in activities against the Spanish colonial rule.
On July 4， 1811， Chile opened the first National Assembly and he became the leader of the radical members. In 1814， he was appointed commander of the RPA. However， he defeated in the Battle of Rancagua， Santiago fell into the restoration of Spanish colonial rule. Later， O’Higgins retreated rate of the remnants of the RPA and the city of Mendoza， Argentina San Martin came together.
From February 1817 to April 1818， the colonial army annihilated the main Patriotic Army and O’Higgins was elected Chile’s highest governing Executive.
February 12， 1818， Chile formally declared independence. During the rule， he abolished the implementation of the development of cultural education and the reform of the colonial period， the Navy also was created to support the liberation of Peru’s San Martin.
There is a lake， across the international boundary between the Chile and Argentina. Part of the territory in Chile is called O’Higgins Lake， part of the territory in Argentina called San Martin Lake. Two peoples are in such a way mark of O’Higgins and San Martin independence hero of Latin America in the war.

Rano Raraku Quarry
Rano Raraku Quarry is a well-known symbol of Easter Island and the factory of stone. Huge statue scattered inside and outside of the volcanic slopes， and some upright posture， some lying on the road. Statue of stone is collected from the extinct volcano from here. Among 600 stones， the largest is 21 meters high. In the entrance of the extinct is a quiet lake， as well as Romanstyle 360-degree observation deck can be the surrounding scenery.
Talking Board
The talking board is the wood with pictures arrounding stone. After the explorer discovered Easter Island， the European missionaries had come to the island， they ordered people to burn all of these wood. Only a local resident grabbed 25 boards into a fishing boat， fled to the sea. Later， the 25 pieces of wood was preserved， and they are well-known by museum collections around the world. However， what are the texts on “talking board” pattern？ It is still a mystery.
