Door into the Dark
Originally published in 1969, Seamus Heaney's Door into the Dark continues a furrow so startlingly opened in his first collection, Death of a Naturalist (1966). 108影响人类的重大事件

迷津（中篇）
至于吴莲身体最后的遮盖物，是养老院的那位孤老头独自完成的。他从樟木箱中取出那套已经洗得发白的大红衣裳试图替她穿上，脆弱的纤维由于身体的变形而被撕裂。他后来翻箱倒柜地寻找，却没有发现任何粗细麻布做成的白丧服，只在樟木箱的最底层，寻得一套看得过眼也足够大的黑衣裤。他又用一块干燥的白毛巾，覆盖住死去的吴莲眼中最后的形象。吴莲的尸体在县城的殡仪馆火化，孤老头陪伴着直到焚烧结束，充当她路尽头唯一的男人和亲人。他把骨灰盒领回，又特意去了趟她的家，将她与周鉴的骨灰盒并排摆放在长条桌的中央。他走到门边又回头望了最后一眼，跨过门槛，吱呀声中，将门重重地撞上。现在，再也没有什么能够阻隔他们，越过生与死的界限终于共同长眠的——吴莲和周鉴将主宰屋里的一切，包括：尘埃、情感、禁忌、法律，与久到永恒的孤寂。
